Wapologize but no, we do not reface old cabinetry.  Refacing is a specialty and it’s better to find a company that focuses on that type of work.

Are there any fees for designer consultations?

Depending on the size and complexity of a design, we may require a design retainer after our initial consultationWhen you move forward and place the order, that amount is deducted from the invoice.

Do we need to make an appointment, or can we just walk in and get to see a designer?

Typically we would welcome you to walk in anytime, but due to Covid-19, we are requesting an appointment.  This helps us control the amount of people in our showrooms at any one time and limit the exposure to our clients and ourselves.

Who do I contact if I have a question before, during, or after installation?

If you have a question before install, reach out to your designer, during the installation please speak with Customer Care.  Both can be reached at (905) 264-6464.

Is electrical layout part of my kitchen design?

We are happy to help with any questions about your electrical work, but the plan provided will only include locations for work relating to the cabinetry.

Will a designer come out to my home and take a look at my kitchen before we consult?

The first step for your project is to meet with one of our designers here at the showroom for a no-cost consultation.  We recommend that you bring basic measurements and plenty of pictures of the space. We will certainly come out to confirm the measurements and the space. By coming to the Studio first and discussing the project, we will be more informed about your needs and may approach the measure differently.

How many times do clients typically meet with designers at the studio before the project is ready to order? And how long does the design process take?

The process length can vary widely from job to job depending on a number of factors, complexity, availability of both the designer and client, preparation before (such as flooring choices completed etc), the list is long.

Is delivery the same day as installation?

On small jobs the delivery can be on the same day, but as a rule of thumb, the delivery usually falls on the day prior.

I’ve ordered a kitchen. How do I know when it is ready for installation?

Once the contract is signed, you will be given a “Week Of” timeline.  As the installation date approaches, you will be contacted with a firmer date. Please reach out to your designer or customer care at (905) 264-6464 with specific timeline concerns.

I’ve ordered a kitchen, how should I prepare my space?

Please read over our Preparing Your Space (link to “Prepare MSpace” document) document for how best to receive your delivery and prepare for your installation.

Are the measurements part of my cost quoted?

Yes they are and no they are not.  As part of your purchase, we will happily come out to take measurements and ensure that everything fits as expected.  If you are adding on very small portions to an existing space, or really want to do all of the work yourself, we have that option as well.

Is my kitchen design technically MY design – who owns it once I pay the consult fee and in what format do I receive it in?

There are two ways for you to own the design of your space.

Option 1: Place and order! Once an order is placed the drawings are yours and we can print extra copies at leisure for you to give to your trades.

Option 2: Pay a design retainer, in which case you may walk away at any point of our process with a full set of the drawings we have completed.

How much value will this kitchen reno add to my home value?

If you plan on staying in your home for any period, the value should be based on your enjoyment of the space.  In which case, we say go for it, who doesn’t love a new kitchen!? If you are looking to move or flip a home, we need to be smart about where we spend and what kind of value you get for the choices.  We can tell you that a kitchen in disrepair can make it harder to sell your home, speak with your realtor.

Do you have a showroom?

Yes, 70 Regina Road in Woodbridge. Please call (905) 264-6464 to make an appointment.

Is there anything special about Cortina that sets you apart from any other kitchen manufacturer?

Cortina has been around since 1987! Our tagline, “Creating A Lifestyle, Built With Care”, is as true today as it’s ever been.  We’ve been fortunate to have many returning clientele, great word of mouth growth and a team that truly cares about what they do each day.  Our variety of choices is second to none, our design team is excellent and you will love our product. Come by the showroom at 70 Regina Road in Vaughan and see for yourself.

I have purchased a new home from a builder, and I would like to make changes before it closes

You best bet is make any choices that you can with your builder when you are doing your selections.  If you would like to alter the kitchen after the installation, or add-on to it, we can only speak with you after the home has closed.  This process is substantially less hassle for you, less headache for you, and cheaper too!

When selecting a painted finish, why do you choose wood over MDF?

MDF is a fantastic material to paint because of the density of the material.  Paint goes on smooth, clean and with little to no defect. Wood is also a great product to paint, when treated properly the paint goes on with a beautiful finish almost identical to MDF.  However, this is where the similarities end.  Wood is a “living” material, and as such, it moves and breathes with humidity and temperature.  Paint is not.  As your wood door swells, your paint will remain the same size and this leads to cracking.  Painted MDF doors will not swell with the seasons and your finish will stay in better shape for a much longer.

Does Cortina sell knobs, pulls, faucets and sinks (even when I don’t buy a kitchen from you)?

We do not sell faucets or sinks but we can recommend some one, try Ron’s Plumbing Superstore. When it comes to decorative hardware such as knobs and pulls, we only sell it to clients that are purchasing cabinetry.

Do you recommend any Renovators, Builders or Designers?

We are happy to provide you with a short list of Trades who can provide you with various services.
